Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the public consultation on the PPU. The retarded pro-developer blueprint that would have destroyed our community.
We were promised economic, traffic, and enviromental analysis – to assess the impact on our property values (they would have gone down thanks to increased competition from cheap housing and condos next door), our taxes (they would have increased to pay for all the new services), and our wildlife (they would all be extinct).
Meanwhile we would be sitting in our cars in the middle of incredible traffic jams on tiny Chemin Ste. Marie.
What did the Mayor and council deliver on these promises?
The good news is that we kept the status quo. Development isn’t inevitable – we’ve proven that to all West Island Communities.
