We have to stop the current PPU to protect Ste. Anne de Bellevue, our environment, its wildlife, our property values, and our quality of life, for ourselves, our children, and their children.
Without proper impact analysis, the consequences of the PPU can only be estimated. The risks of this PPU are incredibly high. With the planned densification of the current PPU we could have over 5,000 new people crammed into one area, we could expect:
-fiscal uncertainty for the town, will we run a deficit?
-higher taxes for citizens to pay for new services and some of the infrastructure
-decreased property values for citizens
-no metro stations, mass transit plans still unclear
-increased traffic congestion impacting Kirkland and Senneville as well
-overcrowding with no extra parks could lead to increased crime
-decreased quality of air, more pollution
-destruction of fields, forests, and wetlands
-more risk of flooding with destruction of green spaces
-extinction of our deer herd, migratory birds, and unique wildlife
