Never Ending Construction

Posted on Updated on

The main drag downtown Ste. Anne’s. Years and years of construction for one street. And is it really finished? I got stuck driving there yesterday because the street is too narrow in some places. The other driver and I just looked at each other until I decided to back up and let him go through. What a nightmare.

Just imagine how long will it take to develop enough infrastructure for the PPU and its 5,000 additional people? How long, 15 years, 20 years? And just imagine the traffic increases when it is finally completed one glorious day given Chemin Ste. Marie can’t be widened effectively along its full length – despite what the council says. Of course by that day this community will have lost all its charm and all its quality of life, it will be time for the “for sale” signs and be prepared to take a potential loss on the value of your home.

No thank you PPU.

Construction in Ste Anne de Bellevue nearly complete, in time for car show

It all started some five and a half years ago and now construction, including work on the main strip in Ste Anne de Bellevue, is just about finished, just in time for this weekend’s annual car show.

Jim Beauchamp of Cunningham’s Pub on Ste Anne’s street says the big strip is ready for the big show this weekend, featuring at least 400 cars and organizers are expecting some 10-thousand people.

“Looks like the paving’s been, almost kind of finished. Most of the sidewalks are in. It’s getting there, it’s, I’d say, it’s 85, 90 per cent done”, says Beauchamp.
