During the Battle of Bout de l’Isle, I had the opportunity to speak with the CTV news reporter along with Mme L. When asked about why we loved this community, we told the reporter about the green spaces to which she interjected “Of course, that’s why I bring my kids here”!
Speaking of battles, if the city still thinks after the storm last night (figuratively indoors and later a real thunderstorm outside) that they can ram this down our throats then they should realize it will only be a Pyrrhic victory.
A Pyrrhic victory is a victory with such a devastating cost to the victor that it carries the implication that another such victory will ultimately cause defeat. At a purely technical level someone who wins a "Pyrrhic victory" has been victorious in some way. However, the heavy cost involved in winning and/or the unpleasant consequences which follow completely destroy any sense of achievement or profit. There is, therefore, no reason for celebration.
